In Memory Of Jer Balsara ❥ Freddie Mercury's mother [2/2]

In Memory Of Jer Balsara ❥ Freddie Mercury's mother [2/2]

Her death comes just about 25 years after the passing of her son, Freddie Mercury. Freddie Mercury’s mother, Jer Bulsara, passed away on Nov. 13 at the age of 94. Kashmira Cooke, Mercury’s sister, confirmed the news of her mother’s death on Sunday (Nov. 20) in a statement to the press, saying that she died in her sleep. Born in Gujarat, India, in 1922, Jer married husband, Bomi, a former cashier in the British Colonial Office. The couple and their two children Freddie and Kashmira fled to Feltham, Middlessex, during the Zanzibar Revolution in 1964. Jer and Bomi then relocated to Nottingham to be closer to their grandchildren following Freddie's death from AIDs-related pneumonia on November 24, 1991. Bomi died aged 95 in 2003. Queen’s Brian May paid tribute to his late bandmate’s mother with a touching letter posted on his website: “Jer was a warm and devoted Mum to Freddie, and, like Freddie, always had a strong twinkle in the eye. Although she was also devoted to her husband Bomi, and lived in the Zoroastrian faith as a good Parsee, she had an independent spirit and a strong sense of humour.” “Of course I knew her for over 50 years, and when I first used to go around to Freddie’s parents’ house in Feltham, only a few yards from where I lived, in our student days, Jer was a busy Mum, full of life and optimism,” May continued. “And even then, fiercely proud of her children, Freddie and Kashmira.” “It’s probably true to say that Freddie’s father, strongly committed to the Parsee faith, didn’t find it easy that Freddie took the path he did, as a Rock musician, and a fairly irreverent one, at that. Nevertheless the support was always there. But Jer was always a keen follower of our progress as a band, and always came to see us when we played nearby, always with huge enthusiasm. Freddie was very close to his Mum, and, I think, took a mischievous pleasure in trying to shock her,” he said. “In private moments with us, away from the glare of the spotlights, in latter years Jer was always ready with a cup of tea when we visited, and we were always able to speak about ‘My Freddie' without shyness, feeling that he was not far away,” said May. "Freddie adored his strong mum. RIP Jer,” Queen’s Roger Taylor commented. Bulsara will have a private Zoroastrian funeral ceremony. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Mercury’s death. The Queen frontman passed on Nov. 24, 1991. @Billboard

Queen "Love of my life" (Freddie Mercury & Mary Austin)

Brian May to RT: I still feel Freddie's around

Brian May to RT: I still feel Freddie's around

RT caught up with legendary Queen guitarist Brian May, who also happens to be an astrophysicist, after a symposium of astronomers in the Canary Islands to talk about links between music and science, God, the universe and the mystery of death. May says being both a musician and a scientist gives him an interesting observation point to view both. "I love pure science and I love pure music. They are not the same for sure, but certainly throughout the centuries there have been people, who were immersed in both of them, from Leonardo da Vinci to Patrick Moore. Maybe it's an abstraction thing, maybe people who like those things, don't like the clutter of the world we live in. They just like to find the essence of life," he told RT. As a man of art, May has insights into life, which he has to put under question as a man of science, he says. "If you say 'there is no God,' where is evidence there is no God? You can say 'I don't know.' Being an agnostic to me is a scientific point of view, which is supportable. In my experience, I felt at times that there is a God of some kind. I don't subscribe to any organized religion -- that's a different matter. But if there is a God, we have very little idea of what that God may be. That's inherent in what we are," he said. Such limits of perception actually give hope at certain points of life, for instance, when you think of what come after it is over, May said. "I'm inclined to think that out view of the universe is very simplified. A beetle crawling over a piece of paper has a very limited view of the universe. I think we also have a limited view. So this existence that we know may be just a very small part of the whole picture. I'm not counting on it, because maybe at the end of your life -- that's it. I don't know. One thing is certain: you can't use it as an excuse. You can't say: 'this life is very bad, but the next one will be OK.' You have to make the best of what you are," he said. May, who contemplated suicide at one point in his life, says taking your life is very self-centered and thinking of people who love you and count on you helps in beating such thoughts. "In a sense it's a very selfish thing to kill yourself, because you make so much mess. You do terrible things to the people around you. I did check myself into a depression clinic, which was actually the best thing I ever did, because it was a new start. It was like re-starting your car. I had to ditch my preconceptions, and that work certainly gave me new energy. I realized that if I did not deal with the depression, I was of no use to anybody. It's the same kind of logic as not killing yourself," he said. RT on Twitter: http://twitter.com/RT_com RT on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/RTnews

Biography of Freddie Mercury: Farrokh Bulsara (5 September 1946 – 24 November 1991), known professionally as Freddie Mercury, was a British singer, songwriter and record producer, best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Queen. He was known for his flamboyant stage persona and four-octave vocal range.[3][4][5] Mercury wrote numerous hits for Queen, including "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Killer Queen", "Somebody to Love", "Don't Stop Me Now", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", and "We Are the Champions". He led a solo career while performing with Queen, and occasionally served as a producer and guest musician for other artists. #FreddieMercury was born of Parsi descent on Zanzibar, and grew up there and in India before moving with his family to Middlesex, England, in his teens. He formed #Queen in 1970 with guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor. Mercury died in 1991 at age 45 due to complications from AIDS, having confirmed the day before his death that he had contracted the disease. In 1992, Mercury was posthumously awarded the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music, and a tribute concert was held at Wembley Stadium, London. As a member of Queen, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003, and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004. In 2002, he was placed number 58 in the BBC's 2002 poll of the 100 Greatest Britons. He is consistently voted one of the greatest singers in the history of popular music. Early Life:Mercury was born Farrokh Bulsara (Gujarati: ફારોખ બલસારા, Pharōkh Balsārā‌) in Stone Town in the British protectorate of the Zanzibar (now part of Tanzania) on 5 September 1946.[9][10] His parents, Bomi (1908–2003) and Jer Bulsara (1922–2016),[a][11] were Parsis from the Gujarat region of the then-province of Bombay Presidency in British India.[b][12] As Parsis, Mercury and his family practised the Zoroastrian religion.[13] The Bulsara family had moved to Zanzibar so that his father could continue his job as a cashier at the British Colonial Office. He had a younger sister, Kashmira.[14] Mercury spent most of his childhood in India and began taking piano lessons at the age of seven.[15] In 1954, at the age of eight, Mercury was sent to study at St. Peter's School, a British-style boarding school for boys, in Panchgani near Bombay (now Mumbai).[16] At the age of 12, he formed a school band, The Hectics, and covered rock and roll artists such as Cliff Richard and Little Richard.[17][18] It has been said that one of his formative musical influences at the time was Bollywood singer Lata Mangeshkar,[19] but one of Mercury's former bandmates from the Hectics has said that "that is a lot of rubbish. The only music he listened to, and played, was Western pop music."[20] A friend from the time recalls that he had "an uncanny ability to listen to the radio and replay what he heard on piano".[21] It was also at St. Peter's where he began to call himself "Freddie", and in February 1963 he moved back to Zanzibar where he joined his parents at their flat.[22] Source: Wikipedia for more of freddie's life- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freddie_Mercury Subscribe Our Channel: https://goo.gl/U2pWNI ***Watch More Tribute Videos*** Stephen Hawking Tribute From 1 To 75 Years Old https://youtu.be/ot_hDE_XK0s Steve Jobs Tribute 1 - 56 Years Old https://youtu.be/L4PhXILXMEc Chester Bennington Tribute https://youtu.be/wXiIpYCrjhk Muhammad Ali Tribute From 3 to 74 Years Old https://youtu.be/gHq5vbFlGww Jackie Chan Tribute From 1 To 62 Years Old https://youtu.be/p9jQ0dsqWhg Paul Walker Tribute From 1 To 40 Years Old https://youtu.be/LSZ3d7kQ1P0 Adolf Hitler From Childhood To 56 Years Old https://youtu.be/b7qmM068FSA Michael Jackson Then And Now Tribute https://youtu.be/5d_TwxEhQ4Y Like comment and share this video. **Please Don't Forget To Subscribe**

The Last Days of Freddie Mercury

The Last Days of Freddie Mercury

Queen singer Freddie Mercury was fiercely protective of his privacy, and he continued to guard it jealously even as his health succumbed to the ravages of AIDS — but as guitarist Brian May recently revealed, Mercury's bandmates were privileged with glimpses of their frontman's grueling final struggle. May looked back on Mercury's final days in a recent interview with the Sunday Times (via the Daily Telegraph), revealing that before the disease claimed Mercury, it started taking pieces of his body -- including most of his foot, which had to be amputated. "The problem was actually his foot," May told the Times. "Tragically there was very little left of it. Once, he showed it to us at dinner. And he said, 'Oh Brian, I'm sorry I've upset you by showing you that.' And I said, 'I'm not upset, Freddie, except to realize you have to put up with all this terrible pain.'" As May went on to point out, Mercury's death occurred shortly before major advancements in AIDS research led to the introduction of drug cocktails that help stave off the disease, allowing the diagnosed the possibility of long-term management — and helping prevent further agony for patients. Admitting it's difficult to know how close Mercury came to seeing those medications become available, May stressed that he stays focused on the legacy he left behind. "He missed by just a few months. If it had been a bit later he would still have been with us, I'm sure," said May. "You can't do 'what if,' can you? You can't go there because therein lies madness." It's worth noting that May has publicly expressed his unhappiness with the overall tone of the interview, which focused on the sensationalistic aspects of Queen and Mercury's story rather than the project May sat down with the Times to discuss — the Queen in 3-D retrospective book he painstakingly assembled for release this year. "This woman came into my house, pretended she was a fan and was going to write a nice piece about the book, as agreed; then went away and wrote this pathetic sensationalistic drivel. I'm angry and disgusted," wrote May, pointing out that he'd agreed to give the Times the exclusive on the book, including any photos they wanted to run — and they "used just two of them, one of them reproduced not much bigger than a postage stamp; the rest of the piece illustrated with recycled ordinary snaps from God knows where." While May didn't single out the earlier quotes as a reason for his ire, he did take umbrage with the piece's focus on what the headline described as "the debauchery of the Freddie Mercury years." Vowing never to give the Times "the time of day" from here on out, he assured fans that the book has nothing to do with the story presented by the article. "I spent over two years fashioning this into the first book of its kind — EVER — a biography of a band from the inside illustrated with my own photographs — and in 3-D, with a fabulous viewer to bring them to life in three dimensions," May insisted. "It's honest, goes deep and is tasteful and dignified (I have been told!) but nobody reading this awful amateurish piece of journalistic opportunism would know it." Freddie Mercury spent his last days at his house, Garden Lodge 1 Logan Place in Kensington, London. The singer who died from bronchial pneumonia from AIDS, spent his last days with his former partner, Mary Austin, who continues to live at the home. Mercury was diagnosed with HIV in 1987 but kept his condition private until he released a public statement just a little over 24 hours before he passed away on November 24, 1991. Mercury was just 45 years old. The outer walls of Garden Lodge in 1 Logan Place have become a shrine to Mercury, with fans paying tribute by covering the walls with messages for the legendary late singer. #FreddieMercury #Queen #Mercury

Freddie Mercury - The Untold Story (2000) part 6

Freddie Mercury - The Untold Story (2000) part 6

Freddie Mercury was an incredible and downright perfect singer and the greatest rock n' roll showman ever and the magnificent Queen was definitely the best rock band there was and will be. Mercury's death only at the age of 45 was one of the biggest losses world of music has faced. Queen's fascinating music was a phenomenal mixture of opera and hard rock and Freddie's sensational voice, charisma and style was something out of this world. "Freddie Mercury, "The Untold story" let`s Jer Bulsara, Kashmira Cooke, Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon, Mary Austin, Elton John, Robert Plant, Mick Jagger,Jim Hutton, Peter Freeston,The Heltics.... and many others talk about Freddie. This is also the first time when Mercury's friends and relatives gets a chance to speak too. We hear what Freddie's old mother has to say about his late son as well as his sister and last lover's thoughts. "Freddie Mercury, The Untold story" is an excellent, stylish, well-made and highly interesting one hour long documentary about the king as well as the queen of rock and everyone who loves Freddie should watch it. We still love you!!!! ^_^
