From statues of Queen Victoria to double decker buses, British culture and lifestyle is baked into the culture at every turn. Both the history and the current-day British influence are visually fascinating stories and in this episode I show it all -- exploring Britain’s imperial history, which includes opioid trade, discrimination and a divided city, and then showing the effects of that history, resulting in a city that is unlike any I’ve visited. Like the gaping holes in the middle of buildings to let dragons fly through or cannon-like structures installed to deflect bad “qi” (pronounced chi). The main belief in feng shui is that destiny is bound to the environment, so good fortune and harmony can be invited in and bad energy can be warded off by arranging objects and buildings around us. It's an ancient Chinese practice that has come to define Hong Kong's skyline. In this episode of Borders, we explore feng shui principles, explain the circumstances that allowed it to flourish in Hong Kong and take a look at the unique designs around the city.

蘋果日報 : http://hk.apple.nextmedia.com 即 like 蘋果 fb : http://www.facebook.com/hk.nextmedia iPhone App : http://bit.ly/AppleDailyApp-iPhone Android App : http://bit.ly/AppleDailyApp-Android

Just looking at these tiny shoebox apartments in Hong Kong will make you claustrophobic

Just looking at these tiny shoebox apartments in Hong Kong will make you claustrophobic

Just looking at these tiny shoebox apartments in Hong Kong will make you claustrophobic Hong Kong has a problem. With its population growing steadily, it doesn't have enough space to house the 7.2 million people in its 426 square miles. But where the government sees a major issue, realtors see dollars. Because of demand, they can charge high rents for tiny spaces, charging up to HK$90, or $11.60 USD, per square foot. And the spaces are getting smaller. People are living in apartments stacked with wooden boxes, known as "coffin houses," and sleeping in cages about the size of rabbit hutches. The photos of these spaces are extreme and expose the harsh realities of a city with the highest levels of inequality in the developed world. My Hong Kong Travel Experience

My Hong Kong Travel Experience

Eating my way through Hong Kong, seeing and enjoying the many sights to see on the Island and the Mainland. This 3-day trip is from a backpacker's perspective, living from a small room, with no working toilet. Due to popular demand, here is yet another travel experience and this one is my most elaborate video yet, being longer and including more film footage! Zen's Perspective: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_o84QTZGVU Thanks for watching! Music in the video is created and owned by me. I have full rights to use it in this video.
