Or check out Jack Rackam's video in the period before this one https://youtu.be/bSnV6o6IFkU OR EmperorTigerstar's video after https://youtu.be/HAZsFgAJSJE For over 20 years the most powerful person in the Bronze Age world was a woman. One ruling the wealthiest Kingdom ever seen and she did it as a fully fledged Pharaoh. But when she died her legacy was purposefully erased. Today people can barely pronounce her name. Hatshepsut's rise to power was noteworthy as it required her to utilize her bloodline, education, and an understanding of religion. In this video, we'll look at her rise to power and her legacy. War of the Spanish Succession (Every Week)

War of the Spanish Succession (Every Week)

On 1st November, 1700, King Charles II of Spain died, sparking a succession crisis between two claimants, the Bourbon Dynasty of France and Hapsburg Dynasty of Austria. The following war would last for 13 years and involve most of Western Europe. After the war ended in 1714, the European Balance of power was restored. It signaled the rise of Great Britain, the resurgence of Spain under the Bourbons, brought about 18th-Century-style diplomacy, and introduced the colonial theatres as a major part of European warfare. --------------------------------------------------- -Colours- Darkest: Nation directly involved in the war Dark: Occupied Territory Light: Nation indirectly involved in the war Lightest: New territorial changes Brown (1700-01): Unoccupied Spain Brown (1712-15): Armistice Agreement Light Brown: Mostly at peace; only still at war with one other nation --------------------------------------------------- -Sources- Wikipedia YouTube --------------------------------------------------- -Music- Two Steps from Hell - Black Blade Epic and Dramatic Trailer Music

Genetics of the Greeks: European or Middle Eastern?

Genetics of the Greeks: European or Middle Eastern?

Just who exactly are the Greeks and what is their genetic makeup? Today we will be discussing a brief history and genetics of the Greek people, one of the most influential groups of people, not only in the West, but nearly the entire world. Be sure to let me know your thoughts on the history and genetics of the Greeks, without whom, our entire history and culture as we know it would look drastically different. Thanks for watching! Honestly, I did not think the video title was so controversial. Just trying to answer a commonly asked question! As 1942 ended, it became clear that Germany would not be able to defeat the Red Army. The question was, now that the resources of the Soviet Union had been greatly reduced and the Germans had the defensive advantage, did the Red Army have the strength to push the Germans back and avoid a stalemate? Is English Really a Germanic Language?

Is English Really a Germanic Language?

Today we delve into the history of the English language and look at the Germanic, Romance, and other influences that have shaped the Modern English of today. @4:39 to 4:50 there's an error: the text should say "Middle English" not "Modern English". Both are true, but at that moment I'm talking about the changes from OE to Middle English. Support Langfocus on Patreon: http://patreon.com/langfocus Special thanks to: BJ Peter DeLaCruz, Michael Cuomo, Nicholas Shelokov, Sebastian Langshaw, Brandon Gonzalez, Brian Michalowski, Adrian Zhang, Vadim Sobolev, Yixin Alfred Wong, Raymond Thomas, Simon Blanchet, Ryan Marquardt, Sky Vied, Romain Paulus, Panot, Erik Edelmann, Bennet, James Zavaleta, Ulrike Baumann, Ian Martyn, Justin Faist, Jeff Miller, Stephen Lawson, Howard Stratton, George Greene, Panthea Madjidi, Nicholas Gentry, Sergios Tsakatikas, Bruno Filippi, Sergio Tsakatikas, Qarion, Pedro Flores, Raymond Thomas, Marco Antonio Barcellos Junior, and David Beitler for their generous Patreon support. **Clarification regarding the word "in": A lot of people have commented saying that "in" is of Germanic origin, which matches what I had previously thought. When researching this video I looked up the etymology of "in" and read that it's of Latin origin, meaning "into, in, on, upon". So I thought that it must have been one of the early borrowings into Germanic dialects that I mentioned in the video. But I went back and checked the source again, and I realized that the dictionary entry I was reading was for the PREFIX "in-", not the standalone word. The standalone word has always existed in the Germanic language family. And ultimately, both the Germanic and Latin words come from the Proto-Indo-European word "en".** http://facebook.com/langfocus http://instagram.com/langfocus http://twitter.com/langfocus http://langfocus.com Music: Main music 1: “Night Music” by Kevin MacLeod. GERMANS IN AMERICA : 1 INTO THE PROMISED LAND

GERMANS IN AMERICA : 1 INTO THE PROMISED LAND

Summer 2003: a group of 40 German-Americans from Loose Creek, Missouri travel to Germany. They are on a search for their roots and will find them in a farm in the Rhineland. One-hundred-fifty years ago, the Münks farm was the birthplace of their ancestors. For German emigrants in the 19th century, America offered hope in a new beginning: the hope of escaping poverty, years of failed harvests, and political repression. Thanks to romanticized ideas, millions of Germans start off for the unknown. It is the great century of emigration—and for agents,
