That games would be created celebrating his science fiction and fantasy blockbusters is absolutely unavoidable. Of course, a beloved movie in no way guarantees a quality video game tie-in, and Spielberg's career stands as one of the great lessons in the perils of overeager licensing. Join the Nerd as he wallows through a collection of the worst Spielberg-based games ever created in his 101st video game review... and the dramatic prequel to his greatest adventure. The Jaguar. In part 1 of this review The Nerd gives some Atari History as well as a sneak peak of some of the system's small and crappy library. Watch The Nerd tell us about all of The Jaguar's failed and annoying attempts at system hardware innovation. The Nerd will show you just how convenient the lack of a spine label is, He will show you how the added handle to the game carts makes life a little easier as well as many more additions to the hardware make his colon quake. Expletives fly and emotions run high in this first part review of the Atari Jaguar. In the Golden Age of video games, Atari was on top. The games may not seem like much compared to today, but for the time, these simple games were revolutionary. Atari dominated arcades, and home consoles with the Atari 2600. Then competition came along, and the market became consumed with video games. Then after 1983 after the infamous Video Game Crash, Nintendo and Sega rose up, and video games were revolutionized again. So Atari had a rough time keeping up, especially with the comparison in graphics and gameplay. With Nintendo and Sega in heated competition, Sega made the argument that the 16-bit Genesis was superior to the 8-bit NES; starting a "Bit War". Atari saw this as the perfect time to capitalize with one console, but it only reminded us that graphics don't mean everything. This is, the Atari Jaguar, which was announced to be the very first; 64 Bit System! But in the end, it's anticipated arrival on the feeding ground wasn't as fearful as it build up. Here, we'll briefly touch upon the rise and fall of Atari, and why the Jaguar failed to live up to what it could've been before the Nerd talks about the games themselves. Thus was born "Swordquest," a projected series of four Atari 2600 games combining mystical traditions, high-quality comic book inserts from DC, and ingenious puzzles into a gaming experience scarcely matched today, let alone 1982. What could go wrong? The Nerd breaks down the troubled history of the Swordquest franchise and demands closure on one of the gaming world's greatest unfinished stories. After a series of light shows, the game turns out to be more of a strategic board game-esque type of endeavor. The only break you get is an occasional first person shooter that looks like a Missile Command ripoff. But don't fear, there was another game released, except it was solely released in Japan. "Mystery of Optimus Prime" is a typical side-scrolling platfomer but just like Silver Surfer, this game is loaded with enemies that appear out of thin air and take your life. Regardless of where you shoot your weapon, you have to be perfect to hit the enemies, James describes it very accurately. After taking a swig of Billy Mitchell's hot sauce, James attempts to make it through the game, only leading to the highest levels of frustration.Once reaching Stage 9, the game becomes a labyrinth of guessing patterns, only to dupe you once again when Stage 10 is revealed. Let's just put it this way, to deal with the constant enemies killing you and the terrible endless music loops, you're going to need a lot of hot sauce... Check out these other classic AVGN episodes! Subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=JamesNintendoNerd Watch all Angry Video Game Nerd episodes https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2B009153AC977F90 Angry Video Game Nerd (Episode 113) Tiger Electronic Games Here in America, we operate our daily lives under a market economy. One of the main facets of the market economy is that just about anybody can have anything they want as long as they're willing and able to pay the price. But the key words there are "willing and able", so even though we have the right to buy whatever we want, a good chunk of us might not have the ability, mostly for monetary reasons. Take for example video games; video games themselves and the consoles to play them on are, more often than not, beyond expensive, but most kids really enjoy the thought of being able to explore virtual worlds and blow the heads off of anything that tries to kill you and most have a burning desire to be a part of this new craze themselves. That's where Tiger Electronics comes in. A subsidiary of the toy mongrel Hasbro, Tiger Electronics, for many years, managed to satisfy the rapidly expanding video game demands by producing and releasing a whole infestation of very low-quality handheld LCD "games" that somehow gave off the impression that you were holding an actual NES right in the palm of your hands. But the truth is, IT WORKED! Since another main facet to market economy is that the products that people buy the most are the ones that get produced the most, Tiger proceeded to milk their new money grab for all that it was worth, and even tried their hand at releasing whole video game consoles for the sake of it. But there were some who resisted. Despite naming the "Simon's Quest" Tiger adaptation as one of the reasons why Nintendo was superior to Sega (go to Youtube and search "avgn snes vs genesis") when he was just a lad, everyone's favorite angriest, most pissed-off gaming nerd has since recognized the Tiger games for the shallow cash-in attempts that they were and has dedicated a whole episode of his show to tearing them a brand new asshole. So join the Angry Video Game Nerd as he takes a look at what could possibly be considered the worst video games he has ever had the honor of playing, if you could even count them as video games (and for the record Nerd, yes video games are art, go to Youtube and search "nostalgia critic are video games art"). So get ready to have an insignificantly small part of your childhood be given a dose of reality, this is Angry Video Game Nerd Episode 113-Tiger Electronic Games. Also, Sega ended up having much more Tiger games than Nintendo Nerd, just to let you know. Today, we are taking a look at the iconic Super Nintendo and 10 things you didn’t know your SNES could do. Let’s start off with the Nintendo system itself. Has yours ever changed color over the years? Well if it has, you could be one of the very lucky few who own one of the earliest production models. Next, we take a look at the peripherals. We all know about the bazookas and the pistols, but the ingenuity didn’t end there! Nope, there were tons of different things you could buy. Often times, the special controllers were a part of bundle deals, so if you didn’t know about them then, you probably won’t know about them today. How about this: did you know that the Super Nintendo could accommodate more than 2 players? We didn’t either. And there are some games to support these large amounts of players. So far, we know of a way to have 5 gamers playing simultaneously and the games you can play together. Toward the end, we’ll give you all the information you need to pick these items up. Lastly, did you know that your Super Nintendo is capable of playing online multiplayer and downloading additional games, maps, and music? Yep, Nintendo was among the first studios to bring their consoles online. Only trouble is, they didn’t bring it to America, so you probably haven’t heard about it. It isn't a bad game is it? Many fans were split by the decision of taking a beloved overhead adventure game and making it a side scroller. In this episode the Nerd picks up his sword and shield to go on an adventure into Hyrule. We'll see the Nerd give his honest opinion on Zelda 2 as he fights to the end, but can he beat it? Watch him rage as he dukes it out with Moblins, collects bags of Pee, travel treacherous terrain and after all that get some "hot coffee" from grateful townsfolk. Originally released in Japan in 1987 on the Family Computer Disk System and 1988 on the Nintendo Entertainment System in both America and Europe, Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link was the first and only official side scrolling Zelda game in the series. Going on to become known as one of the worst, if not the worst Zelda games amongst fans due to its radical change and difficulty from the previous Zelda game. Series creator Shigeru Miyamoto said in an interview that whilst he didn't think Zelda 2 was a "bad game", he thought that they (Nintendo) could have made it a better experience but were held back by hardware limitations. To this day the Zelda franchise has experimented with different ideas over the years, with Zelda 2 being one of the more drastic but necessary steps into making one of the most beloved franchises of all time. Who needs that when you have an NWC Cart? In 1990 Nintendo sponsored a video game tournament called The Nintendo World Championships the tournament was based on the movie The Wizard and was part of a huge festival called Powerfest which toured twenty-nine cities across the US. The Nintendo World Championship Cartridge was made up of three NES Games these games were Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer, and Tetris and used a point scoring system to determine the winner. The tournament finalists each got to keep their own copy of the game which was a Gray cart with a white label however there exists a Gold version which were given away as prizes in The Nintendo Power Magazine only 26 of these games were ever made. Now the Nerd must tackle what has come to be known as the Holy Grail of NES collecting has he found a real NWC Cart or will it remain forever out of his reach. Spider-Man - Angry Video Game Nerd - Episode 24

Subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=JamesNintendoNerd The Angry Video Game Nerd (Episode 24) Spider-Man AVGN: Spider-Man (Higher Quality) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99l5ddWisgM&list=PLNatApsEKldRO-4DTOi1t0DQuD5yaM3QV Support us on Patreon http://www.patreon.com/Cinemassacre Though Marvel's masked poster boy has a fair share of good video games, (such as Spider-Man for PSX, N64, Dreamcast, and PC in 2000, Spider-Man 2: The Game for Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox in 2004, and Maximum Carnage for SNES and Genesis) his true success in gaming wasn't realized until The Amazing Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin for Sega Genesis. He gotten into a rough start when he enters the gaming industry beginning in the Atari 2600. In this episode, the Angry Video Game Nerd takes a look at bad Spider-Man games. While he is indirectly reviewing those games, he dares to conquer the atrociousness with the help of a certain friendly neighborhood... First off, they're playing Spider-Man for the Atari 2600, Marvel and Spider-Man's first ever video game. The object of the game is to get Spidey to the top of a building and disarm the "superbomb" planted by one of his arch-nemesis, The Green Goblin. Granted that Spidey's is best known to crawl on walls, it's not helpful in this game because he's unable to. You only have to rely on his webbing to go up. Unfortunately, the webbing can be very finicky since it can only touch the structure of the building in order to go up. If the webbing touches the window or the air, or if the webbing or Spidey get hit by a bomb, he'll fall, though you can shoot another web in time to save himself. But if you ran out web fluid, you're screwed. Next, they'll try the only Spider-Man game ever existed on the NES: Spider-Man: Return of the Sinister Six. How can this one fail? Well it's made by Laughing Joking Numbnuts, LJN that's for sure! In this game, you control Spidey through six side-scrolling levels, with a member of the Sinister Six at the end of each level as a boss like Electro, Sandman and Doctor Octopus. Had it not been for the confusing controls and cryptic level design (good luck on Sandman's stage), this would have been a decent side-scroller on the NES library. Sad thing is that wasn't the only Spider-Man game by LJN that the Nerd and Spidey have to deal with, for they will try The Amazing Spider-Man for Game Boy. In this game, Spidey's most famous rogues have discovered his secret identity, Peter Parker, and kidnapped his wife, Mary Jane. The action game takes the player through various city locations, battling an assortment of minor thugs, animals, and a supervillain at the end of each level who, through intermission scenes, will taunt Spider-Man as to the whereabouts of his wife. Though the story seems to be pretty good, the gameplay is a whole different story... After that, the Nerd takes a brief look at Spider-Man 2 for Game Boy Advance. While it's not a terrible game, the Nerd and Spidey only addresses to beginning part of the game where they have Spidey to deliver pizzas, almost like in the movie. That's an absurd way to begin a Spider-Man game, isn't it? Guest starring Kyle Justin (a.k.a. The Guitar Guy behind the Couch) as The Amazing Spider-Man!!
