Siberian Sakha Republic - The Siberian Sakha Republic covers about twenty percent of Russia. Vale Do Javari, Brazil - This next one refers to a place that no modern, civilized human has ever set foot. The Mariana Trench - The Mariana Trench is the deepest point in the entire ocean. Gangkhar Puensum - Gangkhar Puensum, meaning "White Peak of the Three Spiritual Brothers", is the highest unclimbed mountain in the world, and the fortieth highest mountain overall. Star Mountains - The Star Mountains are an enormous mountain range in Papa New Guinea that stretches all the way from the country’s border with Indonesia to the Hindenburg Range – a neighboring mountain range with a less cool name. Yucatan Cenotes - The Yucatan Cenotes are a large cave network located in Mexico.A ‘cenote’ is a particular type of cave that is formed when limestone bedrock collapses. The Namib Desert - You may want to bring at least one water bottle if you decide to go explore the Namib desert, as the region, one of the most arid in the world, gets only two millimeters of rain on average every year. North Sentinel Island - North Sentinel Island tops this list because, of all these places, it is the one I would most strongly advice against visiting.

Felix Baumgartner Space Jump World Record 2012 Full HD 1080p [FULL]

Felix Baumgartner Space Jump World Record 2012 Full HD 1080p [FULL]

The Mission - Red Bull Stratos, a mission to the edge of space, will attempt to transcend human limits that have existed for 50 years. Supported by a team of experts Felix Baumgartner plans to ascend to 120,000 feet in a stratospheric balloon and make a freefall jump rushing toward earth at supersonic speeds before parachuting to the ground. His attempt to dare atmospheric limits holds the potential to provide valuable medical and scientific research data for future pioneers. The Red Bull Stratos team brings together the world's leading minds in aerospace medicine, engineering, pressure suit development, capsule creation and balloon fabrication. It includes retired United States Air Force Colonel Joseph Kittinger, who holds three of the records Felix will strive to break. Joe's record jump from 102,800 ft in 1960 was during a time when no one knew if a human could survive a jump from the edge of space. Joe was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and had already taken a balloon to 97,000 feet in Project ManHigh and survived a drogue mishap during a jump from 76,400 feet in Excelsior I. The Excelsior III mission was his 33rd parachute jump. Although researching extremes was part of the program's goals, setting records wasn't the mission's purpose. Joe ascended in helium balloon launched from the back of a truck. He wore a pressurized suit on the way up in an open, unpressurized gondola. Scientific data captured from Joe's jump was shared with U.S. research personnel for development of the space program. Today Felix and his specialized team hope to take what was learned from Joe's jumps more than 50 years ago and press forward to test the edge of the human envelope. Felix Baumgartner - "On a mission like this, you need to be mentally fit and have total control over what you do, and I'm preparing very thoroughly." Felix consistently challenges his personal limits while pushing the physical boundaries of human flight. In 2003, Felix completed an unprecedented flight across the English Channel with a carbon wing, and subsequently began to consider an even bigger goal: the supersonic freefall. With a team of the world's top scientists, engineers and doctors behind him, Felix will attempt to rewrite history and advance aeronautical research with Red Bull Stratos. This footage belongs entirely to Red Bull™ and I'm just sharing it, nonprofit. ©2012 RED BULL

The nicknamed Planet Nine is a theorised, but undiscovered large world that could potentially be hiding in the fringes of the solar system. Astronomers studying the Kuiper belt have predicted the possibility of the 9th planet because certain gravitational anomalies in the outer solar system can be explained if, this enigmatic world exists. If the unnamed planet is lurking beyond the orbit of Pluto, then astronomers believe that it could be 10 times the mass of Earth and may have an orbit 20 times further from the sun than Neptune. Because Planet Nine has not been discovered it remains a hypothetical object and until our telescopes find and directly observe it, we can only Imagine what this mysterious planet looks like. But science suggests three possibilities, it is either a massive rocky super world made of the same material as Earth, a huge Icy object much like Pluto or another giant gas planet potentially resembling something like Neptune. So if we first assume that this mysterious, currently undiscovered object is a solid world just like the Earth, and we had the technology to travel to and explore its surface, what would it be like to stand on a rocky, Planet nine? The exploring astronauts would have to wear special space suits as Planet Nine is theorised to have an elongated orbit that lasts around 15,000 years and travels as far out as 1,200 AU from the sun, making the surface of this world extremely cold, possibly - 226 degrees Celsius (-374 degrees Fahrenheit). There suits may also have to protect them from the planets intense gravity that could be many times that of Earths. Looking across the surface of a rocky Planet Nine the explorers might see a bizarre volcanic world, that is scared with fire. They might observe a dark landscape made up of canyons, rocky mountains and huge volcanoes as far as the eye can see. Ice and snow would probably blanket the world due to the atmosphere being so cold that it condenses and settles to the surface. Because the predicted planet is so large, it might still have a lot of internal energy and heat that would cause regular volcanic eruptions to spew lava out on to the rock, causing a subtle red glow across a frozen landscape. As the lava reaches the surface of Planet Nine it would freeze in the cold of space, possibly forming a type of black glass known as Obsidian. Billions of miles away from the sun, the explorers might only be able to see parts of this mysterious world, as its surface would only be lite by the dim glimmer of distant stars flickering away in a constant nights sky. If Planet Nine does exist and is a rocky world, it would be as inhospitable as you could ever imagine. It’s understandably difficult for scientists to try and predict what a planet’s made of or what it looks like when you can’t even be sure it’s there. But the problem with a rocky Planet Nine is that the early inner solar system probably didn't have enough material to form Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars plus a super rocky planet that may of been ejected out into deep space. So could it instead, be a giant world made of ice, maybe a massive Pluto like planet that formed in cold dark region known as the Kuiper belt? Find out in part 2 of what would it be like to stand on Planet Nine. The Red Eye 11. The Moons 10. The Surface of Europa The moon of Europa is extremely unique and is covered in a thick layer of ice. Not only that, satellites have detected thermal energy here and have seen water vapor coming out from the surface. Scientists ponder the possibility of life on this planet since there’s liquid water underneath the frozen ice sheets. 9. Saturn The sixth planet from the sun is Saturn and this is another gas giant but much smaller than jupiter. Saturn is mostly known for its rings that surround it. If you’re an amateur astronomer this is one of the coolest planets to look at because you can often see the rings1! It takes 29 earth years for it to make one lap around the sun and it’s mostly made up of hydrogen with a metalic core. . 8. Titan Saturn has 62 confirmed moons just behind saturn for the most in the solar system and the one we barely see in this image is of the moon Titan which mysteriously has oceans of liquid methane. Scientists have been debating whether or not life can form in these oceans extremely far from the sun in this chemical. 7. Titan Crescent Imagine looking up in the sky and the moon was green instead white like we’re used to or just seeing more than 60 of them! Here in this photo we see what Titan might look like from saturn's point of view during a crescent stage. Titan, which is larger than the planet of Mercury, almost has a planet like atmosphere and it takes 15,945 earth days to rotate saturn. The atmosphere has an orange haze to it which is mainly composed of 95 percent nitrogen and 5 percent methane, kind of like earth. The orange haze is still somewhat of a mystery. 6. The Surface It’s very hard to tell what Titan’s surface actually looks like, but we know there’s an atmosphere and we know there’s liquid methane. It’s best to show you an artists representation that we think could be accurate. This illustratio n by Ron Miller shows the liquid pools of methane and the strange atmosphere on this moon. 5. Uranus Little did you know that photos of your Uranus were on the internet! Once we venture off this deep into space, it’s a little more complicated getting images of it. Only one spacecraft called the voyager 2 has passed by it. The deep blue color would make you believe this is filled with a blue ocean but it’s not! It’s actually blue because it absorbs red light from the sun and reflects blue light. 4. Neptune Neptune is the Roman god of the sea and you can can tell it looks somewhat similar to Uranus only bluer. This thing takes 164.8 earth years to fully orbit the sun and it’s only about 2.7 Billion miles away. This was taken by the Voyager 2 satellite and you can tell it has a giant blue spot in a few places. 3. Triton This image is computer generated to fit both neptune and triton in the same photo but we imagine an image like this in solar system is possible, Neptune has a ring system but also 14 different moons. The most notable one is Triton which has a crazy geological system. On this moon, there’s volcanos but do you really think these volcanoes are going to spew out hot lava from billions of miles from the sun, no! Triton actually has volcanoes that shoot out liquid nitrogen, which we use on earth to freeze things instantly like warts. 2. Pluto And finally, the last planet we have photos of, is pluto, thanks to the New Horizons Long Range REconnaissance orbiter. Nasa believes that there is a 10th planet out there but haven’t gotten any photos for us yet. Many have debated whether this is a planet or a dwarf planet or whatever it is, but at the end of the day, it still orbits the sun. Named after the greek god of the underworld, Pluto is certainly a dark place to be. It’s situated about 3.6 billion miles away and has a rocky rough surface. 1.Comet Halley Halley’s comet orbits our most well known comment and it travels around our solar system ever 75-76 years. It’s very rare to witness this kind of thing, let alone trying to catch a photo of it with a satellite! In 1986, this ball of dust and ice was caught on camera by Giotto, a European spacecraft. It’s very rare to see the nucleus of this comet in such detail!

People From Around The Globe Met For The First Flat Earth Conference (HBO)

Conspiracy theories are nothing new, but in the age of the internet, they spread like “chemtrails” in the wind. The theory that the world is flat, for example, gained so much popularity online that this year 500 people gathered for the first ever International Flat Earth Conference. The belief that the world is flat has kind of been around forever, but it picked up steam in 2015 with a rash of online communities, YouTube videos, podcasts, and even songs preaching the gospel. At some point, Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics started talking about it too, which really seemed to blow the lid off the heliocentric model. So, the time was right for the Flat Earth International Conference, the first of its kind, held at the beginning of November outside of Raleigh, NC. Sold out since May, the conference brought together hundreds of people who had before only really interacted online. It was an opportunity for believers to network, share research, meet thought leaders, find a flat-earth compatible mate, show off various NASA parody t-shirts, and talk shit about Neil deGrasse Tyson. VICE News was there for it all. As one attendee told us, “it gets pretty deep.” We'll let you be the judge. How Big Is The Biggest Galaxy In The Universe?

Send it to - [email protected] Within the observable universe there are more than 100 billion galaxies that come in all kinds of shapes, sizes and ages, from the most common spiral galaxies like the Milky Way, to the ancient elliptical galaxies that are much older and larger. Our cosmic home, the Milky Way galaxy is estimated to contain between 100 and 400 billion stars and spans a huge area of over 100,000 light years across. But compared to other galaxies that have been discovered so far it certainly is not the biggest. Our neighbouring galaxy, "Andromeda", is significantly larger, spanning a massive 220,000 light years in diameter. The nicknamed "comet galaxy" is bigger yet, spanning a gigantic 600,00 light years and the largest of the spiral galaxies, known as "UGC 2885", reaches an enormous 832,000 light years across. But there are bigger, much bigger in fact and these are the super-giant elliptical types. For example, NGC 4889 which can be found in the northern coma cluster, reaches a colossal 1.3 million light years across. But the largest Galaxy discovered so far is known as IC 1101, this monster elliptical galaxy is estimated to be a mind blowing 6 million light years across and not only that, it may contain at its centre, the largest black hole in the universe. It is located around 1 billion light-years away and has the mass of about 100 trillion stars. If our galaxy were to be replaced with IC 1101, it would swallow up both Magellanic clouds, the Andromeda galaxy, the Triangulum galaxy, and almost all the space in between. IC 1101's staggering size is a result of billions of years of colliding and merging with other galaxies. But unfortunately this super giant is believed to be dying, as it doesn't seem to be producing many new stars. It is yellow in colour which indicates very little new stars are forming due to a lack of gas and dust, unlike blue galaxies that are active and alive for example. IC1101 will slowly fade away in the darkness of space. But this Titan currently still sits at the top of the list as the largest known galaxy in the universe and likely will do either until it fades away or the Hubble space telescope finds an even larger galaxy. Why Mars Died, and Earth Lived

Why Mars Died, and Earth Lived

Hey Everyone, You can find our 4K UHD content and more great space and science shows on: https://www.magellantv.com/genres/space The Mars rover, Curiosity, is the latest in a long line of missions to Mars: landers sent to scoop its soil and study its rocks, orbiters sent to map its valleys and ridges. They are all asking the same question. Did liquid water once flow on this dry and dusty world? Did it support life in any form? And are there remnants left to find? The science that comes out of these missions may help answer a much larger, more philosophical question. Is our planet Earth the norm, in a galaxy run through with life-bearing planets? Or is Earth a rare gem, with a unique make-up and history that allowed it to give rise to living things? On Mars, Curiosity has spotted pebbles and other rocks commonly associated with flowing water. It found them down stream on what appears to be an ancient river fan, where water flowed down into Gale Crater. This shows that at some point in the past, Mars had an atmosphere, cloudy skies, and liquid water flowing. So what could have turned it into the desolate world we know today? One process that very likely played a role goes by the unscientific name, "sputtering." Like the other planets in our solar system, Mars is lashed by high-energy photons from the Sun. When one of these photons enters the atmosphere of a planet, it can crash into a molecule, knocking loose an electron and turning it into an ion. The solar wind brings something else: a giant magnetic field. When part of the field grazes the planet, it can attract ions and launch them out into space. Another part might fling ions right into the atmosphere at up to a thousand kilometers per second. The ions crash into other molecules, sending them in all directions like balls in a game of pool. Over billions of years, this process could have literally stripped Mars of its atmosphere, especially in the early life of the solar system when the solar wind was more intense than it is today. Sputtering has actually been spotted directly on another dead planet, Venus. The Venus Express mission found that solar winds are steadily stripping off lighter molecules of hydrogen and oxygen. They escape the planet on the night side... then ride solar breezes on out into space. This process has left Venus with an atmosphere dominated by carbon dioxide gas... a heat trapping compound that has helped send surface temperatures up to around 400 degrees Celsius. The loss of Venus' atmosphere likely took place over millions of years, especially during solar outbursts known as coronal mass ejections. If these massive blast waves stripped Venus and Mars of an atmosphere capable of supporting life how did Earth avoid the same grim fate? We can see the answer as the solar storm approaches earth. Our planet has what Mars and Venus lack - a powerful magnetic field generated deep within its core. This protective shield deflects many of the high-energy particles launched by the Sun. In fact, that's just our first line of defense. Much of the solar energy that gets through is reflected back to space by clouds, ice, and snow. The energy that earth absorbs is just enough to power a remarkable planetary engine: the climate. It's set in motion by the uneveness of solar heating, due in part to the cycles of day and night, and the seasons. That causes warm, tropical winds to blow toward the poles, and cold polar air toward the equator. Wind currents drive surface ocean currents. This computer simulation shows the Gulf Stream winding its way along the coast of North America. This great ocean river carries enough heat energy to power the industrial world a hundred times over. It breaks down in massive whirlpools that spread warm tropical waters over northern seas. Below the surface, they mix with cold deep currents that swirl around undersea ledges and mountains. Earth's climate engine has countless moving parts: tides and terrain, cross winds and currents -- all working to equalize temperatures around the globe. Over time, earth developed a carbon cycle and an effective means of regulating green house gases. In our galaxy, are still-born worlds like Mars the norm? Or in Earth, has Nature crafted a prototype for its greatest experiment... Life?

These two men are laying down their lives in mankind's most noble goal: the search for truth and understanding. Others will follow, and surely find their way home. Man's search will not be denied. But these men were the first, and they will remain the foremost in our hearts. 17 BIGGEST Waves You Wouldn't Believe

17 BIGGEST Waves You Wouldn't Believe

The ocean itself is more mysterious than the darkside of the moon and one of the most powerful forces from those blue depths are waves. Thanks to the moon, winds, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions, clear, blue water can turn into a mighty force to be reckoned with, like these big waves we’re going to talk about right….now! Subscribe for weekly wacky videos and learn interesting facts about the world with awesome top 10 lists and other amazing videos. 7. Tohoku Earthquake And Tsunami Here’s one from more recent memory. In 2011, a n earthquake off the pacific coast of Japan’s Tohoku took place. It came with a magnitude of 9 to 9.1 that would eventually cause the tsunami that caused severe damage to Northeastern Japan. The tsunami would leave 4.4 million houses without electricity, 1.5 million people without water, and major casualties. An estimated cost of $235 billion in damage made it the costliest natural disaster history. The tsunami rose to 133 feet or 40.5 meters high, hitting Miyako, Iwate, and Tohoku. 6. Tahiti’s Teahupo’o Those searching for a heavy wave need to look no further than Teahupo’o. Often called “cho po” by surfers, the heaviest waves to ride occur off the coast of Tahiti. The French Polynesian waters get crowded with lots of huge boats. Couple that with some sharp coral reefs just 20 inches or 51 centimeters under the water, it’s not exactly the safest, most stable place to be. Cue all the excited boarders who traveled here for that reason. This reef break swells break left fo the most part and the world knows it best for the number of barrels that come through. 5. Krakatau From modern times all the way back to the past. The next wave on the list made a terrifying splash back in 1883. That year, the infamous volcano known as Krakatau (or Krakatoa) sin Indonesia erupted. The eruption arrived with such force that it caused a 98 foot or 30 meter high tsunami in the Sunda Strait. The powerful wave took out 165 coastal villages in both Sumatra and Java. Oscillations from the eruption reportedly continued for over a day after the initial eruption. The next morning, 70% of the island as well as the nearest parts of the archipelago collapsed into a caldera. The ash from the eruption spread to an altitude of 20,000 feet or 6 kilometers. 4. Norway’s Draupner Wave The idea of a rogue wave had been around for a long time but prior to 1995, scientists did not have concrete, mathematical data that proved they existed. Rogue waves, sor monster waves, sometimes called killer or episodic waves, are supposed to be really big, unexpected waves--said to be extremely dangerous. The first rogue wave did not get detected by a measuring instrument until New Years Day About 23 years ago. The wave reached a maximum height of 84 feet or 25.6 meters high at the Draupner platform of the North Sea, near the coast of Norway. 3. The Great Summit In irish, Mullaghmore means “the great summit” and is also the name of the village cound on the peninsula of the same name in Ireland. Mullaghmore turned into a famed spot for prime surfing as well as a favorite holiday destination. Large waves roll onto this coast of Ireland, with surfers and windsurfers alike trying to ride waves that on average grow to be 49 feet or 15 meters high. To make matters even more epic, the waves get generated by a weather system known “the Viking storm” which has created the most notable large waves for the past 15 years in March. It get so intense that boards and bones often break. On record, the tallest ever wave climbed here came up to 67 feet or 20 meters high. 2. The Indian Ocean Earthquake Back to Indonesia, this time over 100 years later. Known as the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake, this event drew up a series of tsunamis in immense size, reaching up to 100 feet or 30 meters high. It affected people in 14 countries, with the tsunamis as a result from the quake called the Boxing Day Tsunamis. The epicenter could be traced back to right off the west coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra. In the history of earthquakes, it comes as the third largest ever with the longest duration of faulting that scientists have been hvle to observe lasting up to 10 minutes. It was so strong that the whole planet vibrated at 0.4 inches or 1 centimeter and caused earthquakes all the way up to Alaska. 1...
