The Magic of Making Sound

The Magic of Making Sound

In Hollywood, everything is magic and make-believe, even sounds. When you watch a film that immerses you completely in its world, you’re probably hearing the work of sound artists. If the work is done right, you won’t be able to tell that the “natural” sounds on screen are manufactured with studio props. That's the challenge for Warner Bros. They give conflict for our heroes and watching their ludicrous plans out before us is always a treat. But what if those villains we always thought were evil were actually more in the right than we thought? Many villains are actually misunderstood and chastised by society, resulting in characters who can get a bit extreme. Take Hades for example, from Hercules. He ended up getting a really lame job despite him being a god. Everyone else gets to live on Olympus but Hades lives out his life in the underworld with the dead. Poor guy. Lotso from Toy Story 3 was just looking out for the other toys while Sid in the first film had no idea he was inflicting any harm. To him, the toys were just plastic. Plus his upbringing was definitely questionable. Syndrome from the Incredibles just wanted everyone to have superpowers after being shut down by the lead character while Maleficent just wanted to be included. Gaston from Beauty and the Beast actually just wanted to marry Belle and when she was taken, brought a mob together to get her back. Sure, he was a giant tool, but at least he wasn’t holding a girl against her will and throwing violent tantrums. Hook from Peter Pan was totally in the right if you think about it too, as he lost his hand to the boy who steals children from their home and brings them to Neverland. Ursula was exiled in the Little Mermaid and went full angry mode when her pet eels died. Understandable. Script by: Sean Gallagher Voice Over by: Ryan George Edited by: Rey Gueits Featuring: Shere Khan | 0:34 Sid | 1:41 Ursula | 2:46 The Hyenas | 3:50 Hook | 4:50 Maleficent | 5:51 Hades | 6:55 Syndrome | 8:00 Lotso | 9:00 Gaston | 10:02 Our Social Media: https://twitter.com/screenrant https://www.facebook.com/ScreenRant https://plus.google.com/+ScreenRant Our Website http://screenrant.com/

25 Things Pixar Does That Disney Would Never Do

25 Things Pixar Does That Disney Would Never Do

They may technically be owned by the same company, but there's still a huge difference between Disney and Pixar movies! Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/ho3Hg6 Check out "10 Shocking Disney Pixar Theories That Actually Make Sense" from our friends at CBR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0r87Bf3OTc Pixar is Disney’s baby they began taking care of in 2006. Since then, the word has flown around the industry that Pixar made Disney better when their head chief creative officer, John Lasseter, went over to help Disney. But it was also said that Pixar suffered and reverted to more sequels, however, their sequels turned out to be just as good as the originals. Take “Finding Dory” or “Toy Story 2” for examples. Despite Disney buying the major animation studio, Pixar still isn’t afraid to say no to them. Pixar has a core Brain Trust that all their ideas go through and they won’t be compromising any of their stories for a “Mulan,” “Aladdin,” or “Frozen” style film. Instead, Pixar is going to continue making outside the box, conflict-driven, flawed character leading films such as “Up,” “Wall-E,” “Toy Story,” “Inside Out,” “The Incredibles,” "Brave," "Cars," and “Monsters Inc.” Not to mention that both the major studios take time to make cool little short films before their actual features, but Disney can’t even hold a candle to Pixar’s originality in those. So what has made Pixar so consistently successful over the years? Is it their small, closed group of in-house writers? Is it the time they take for the proper story, like the ten years it took “The Incredible 2” to be made? Is it their knowledge that Chinese food creates conflict? Is it their no-fear at tackling new worlds like that of “Coco”? It’s all these things and way more! Watch this video to discover all the crazy, fearless, and risk-taking things that Pixar does that Disney would NEVER do! You’ll be shocked at the differences and thrilled to watch the newest Pixar film! 10 Messed Up Moments In Disney Movies That No One Noticed

10 Messed Up Moments In Disney Movies That No One Noticed

What did Disney hide from us? 10 Messed Up Moments In Disney Movies That No One Noticed! Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/ho3Hg6 Disney movies are made for kids, right? Well, sure. But they also have to take into account the parents that are bringing their kids to the theatre. While an adult joke here and there is nothing to get too worked up over, sometimes Disney takes things a little too far and crosses the line into weird or just messed up territory! In recent years, films like Frozen, Toy Story 3, and The Incredibles have included some pretty messed up moments or jokes that make you want to stop and rewind, just to make sure the characters actually said what you thought you just heard. But this practice isn’t anything new. We have examples from all throughout Disney’s history. Including their Renaissance era with films like Aladdin and The Lion King, as well as true classics like Pinocchio and even Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It seems messed up Disney moments are as old as Disney itself. Sometimes these moments go unnoticed or shrugged off for a long time. Other times, they become the stuff of legends - rumours that spread for as long as the movie has been released! We’ve collected 10 moments that exemplify the different types of messed up moments Disney likes to create. Some of them are pretty harmless, but some of them have led Disney to retract or even re-release films because of how scandalous they are! So enjoy this video and be sure to like it and subscribe to Screen Rant so you can stay up to date with all of our list videos!

Disney's Practical Guide to Snow Simulation

Disney's Practical Guide to Snow Simulation

What is simulation? Originally, animated movies were created using traditional hand-drawn animation techniques. Teams of animators would draw all characters and the surroundings frame by frame which would be assembled to compose the final film. But there is only so much a person can draw! Things like water, smoke and fire have extreme amounts of richness and degrees of freedom to their composition and movement, which makes them nearly impossible to animate “by hand” in any reasonable amount of time. That is where technology and physically-based algorithms come in: environmental effects like water, smoke and fire are governed by physical equations, so why not let computers do all the heavy computation to solve those equations. The programs that do this computation are called simulators.

Disney's Practical Guide to Path Tracing

Disney's Practical Guide to Path Tracing

Path tracing is a method for generating digital images by simulating how light would interact with objects in a virtual world. The path of light is traced by shooting rays (line segments) into the scene and tracking them as they bounce between objects. Path tracing gets its name from calculating the full path of light from a light source to the camera. Light can potentially bounce between many objects inside the virtual scene. As a ray of light hits a surface, it bounces and creates new rays of light. A path can therefore consist of a number of rays. By collecting all of the rays along a path together, the contributions of a light source and the surfaces along the path can be calculated. These calculations are used to produce a final image.
