Is the New Apple Watch Series 4 the smart watch we deserve? Yes, is it the one we need? Yes.
I’m not excited because it’s a new device with a vibrant screen, or that it’s thinner, not because the digital crown has haptic feedback, not because you can stuff more information on watch face because of the bigger screen BUT because the Apple Watch Series 4 is going to save me when my body fails.
Why I thought the iPhone XS was underwhelming: https://youtu.be/_TElsSf-qIQ
So in this video, I’m going to share with you 10 things I noted throughout the keynote as well as why I think the Series 4 is the Apple Watch that’s going to go mainstream and end it all off with why I’m excited for the next few iterations of the Apple Watch. And while you’re watching this video, think about what you want to see in future iterations of the Apple Watch.
1-Thinner. Sweet? But the first question I had was: Will it still be caught on my jacket sleeve when I try to put a jacket on.
2-Breath App. Do any of you use it? Jeff makes it sound like it’s an incredibly popular app.
3-There’s a part of me that wonders if these presenters are told to say certain things by the marketing team. Look at the vibrant colors on the new watch face. When the reality is that the colors that we’re seeing are not actually indicative of the colors on the actual device.
4-Digital Crown with haptic feedback re-design seemed out of place to me. But after stewing on this point for a day, i realized that Apple’s entire theme for the Keynote was actually entered on the digital crown and the new sensor in the crown.
5-Back of the case is beautiful. Made from ceramic and sapphire glass. The only thing people are going to notice is all the old sweat that gets stuck on the back of the watch.
6-Now when it came to fall detection, I wasn’t too excited about the feature because I’m not sure it’s going to be useful for me. BUT then I thought about my parents and the chilling stories they’ve told over the last years of their falls and it dawned on me. This device is for them!
As a side note, I’m excited to test this feature when it gets released.
7-When Jeff started talking about the new HR features such as Low HR and AFIB, again I thought that it was cool but not applicable to me. BUT then I thought of my blood-thinner laden parents and realized this isn’t for me. This is going to be for them.
But what really blew my mind was the addition of the ECG. Mind blown. Just incredible. Now what am I going to do with this information? The addition of this feature affects me personally and I’m actually looking forward to seeing it in action. Whenever the app get’s released. And if it works of course.
8-BT 5.0 is a good addition because of it’s increased range. It’s going to be home changing for me and my smart home.
9-Anybody else notice the fallacy known as the All-day battery that lasts 18 hours?
10-The last thing that peaked my interest was the 6-hours of activity tracking it could do on a full charge. That’s 6 hours of working out.
So why am I excited about Future Apple Watch releases?
In short, the Apple Watch 4 has become a piece of technology with a purpose. It has now become a piece of technology that potentially has a direct outcome on your quality of life. Fall and hit your head. Emergency call goes out. With the new HR features, you don’t have to figure out if your heart is going on the fritz because of all the hot wings you ate.
And all of this occurs automatically. If you follow my smart home reviews, you know that I prefer gadgets that make my life easier. The best tech in my opinion is tech that doesn’t get in the way. It makes my life better by just working. And that’s why the Series 4 is going to be incredibly popular. You don’t have to remind yourself to take your HR to check for AFIB, it just does it for you. You don’t have to try get up after you fall because it’s going to do it for you.
I think for the next few years, I think we’re going to see 1-2 new health related sensors in each subsequent Apple Watch release. This is going to be fun to watch.
