Lars-Erik Larsson (1908-1986) are among Sweden's most popular composers.
He took an important place in the Swedish music scene, not least with his music for radio, theatre and film. His musical style ranging from senromantik to techniques derived from the twelve-tone music.
In addition to his symphonies for full orchestra wrote, Lars-Erik Larsson, a Sinfonietta for String Orchestra and a popular Little Serenade for the same crew. He also wrote a series of concertinoer for solo instruments, piano, strings, brass and woodwinds.
From 1937 to 1944, Lars-Erik Larsson Chief conductor of the Swedish Radio Orchestra. At the time brought it often on the radio a program type, which was called the "literary-musical suite": a poem, a piece of music, a poem, and so forth. Used often existing music, but at times was new music commissioned. Several works by, among other things. Lars-Erik Larsson has the background.
Most of this music is now torn loose from its literary map but Förklädd Gud from 1939 has retained his original form, and is still played frequently in Sweden like at festive occasions. The work was composed for recitation, soloists, chorus and Orchestra, and Lars-Erik Larsson, Förklädd Gud sought in simplicity with a fresh, lyrical and melodiøst expressions.
The music was written in 1939 and had radio premiere in 1940. This may seem like escapism to create this Idyll, at a time when the world stood in flames-but the work starts with a prolog-a motto, which changes the perspective:
Not for the strong in the world, but the weak,
not for the Warriors, but peasants who have ploughed
their plot I had been able without complaint
playing a God on the flute.
It is a Greek saga ...
The lines were not found because Hjalmar Gullberg first wrote his suite "Förklädd Gud" in 1933. The was added six years later, when Nazism seemed to do everything to a question of who is the strongest. In both text and music are Förklädd Gud turned into a defense of all that is is dignified and simple.
