Subwoofers help our systems come alive by bringing the realism associated with live events into our homes and supplementing where our main speakers fall short. But they only go down so low. 1990's JVC Speaker Restoration

1990's JVC Speaker Restoration

Restoring a pair of 1990's JVC SP-MX66BK speakers. I estimate they were made in the early to mid 1990's and were part of a mini hifi system. I purchased the speakers from an op shop for a few dollars. They were in perfect working order but the vinyl wrap was peeling off. Once the vinyl wrap was removed the speakers were fully repainted in blue with black front and rear. This video shows time lapses of the repaint plus testing. 1. Remove vinyl wrap and speaker drivers. 2. Sand the boxes, apply filler, more sanding. 3. Primer, more filler, more sanding, more primer. 4. Paint. 5. Reassemble and test. Music used: An quick untitled song that I made for this video. (by Paul Corfiatis) Shpongle - Strange Planet (by Simon Posford) from Codex VI (Note: I purchased this album and have the CD)

How to Recone a Speaker

How to Recone a Speaker

This video covers every step in the re-coning of a 1957 Jensen P10R Alnico 5 speaker from the tweed Vibrolux that was featured in a recent video series. The original cone and voice coil were completely destroyed, but since this was the original speaker for this amp, re-coning was indicated. After the speaker was completed, it was tested at high volume with a guitar and amplifier. NOTE: There are two types of re-coning kits: 1.) Assembled, in which the cone, voice coil, and spider are all attached together 2.) Unassembled, as in this video, where all the parts are separate and must be installed individually. In my opinion, Assembled is easier, while Unassembled allows for corrections and is more versatile. Here is a link to an excellent source of re-coning supplies: Cathy at http://reconingspeakers.com/ Since maintaining this YT channel and our FB page has become a "full time job", and in response to the suggestions of several viewers......Rusty, Jack, and I have signed up for a site on Patreon, named "Uncle Doug and Rusty". Fix ANY Dented Dust Cap WITH A BAG! Any Size

Fix ANY Dented Dust Cap WITH A BAG! Any Size

Hello everyone, this is the absolute best method to un-pop a pressed in center dome whether it is a dust cap, tweeter or on a subwoofer. This will work for you given that your dust cap/tweeter is capable of physically popping back up, an exception would be if you have a vintage speaker with the old-school thin cardboard type dust cap which sometimes stay permanently wrinkled depending on the material. Please subscribe and share this video with all of your friends and family!

Speaker Repair - Refoaming a Woofer

Speaker Repair - Refoaming a Woofer

Refoaming a Cerwin Vega Woofer FAQ: - What kind of glue do you use? I use ElmersE1323All Purpose glue for paper cones and Elmers E430 Craft Glue for plastic or other cones made of non-porous materials. - Do you have to cut the center dome and shim the coil? No, it's optional but centering the coil so that it does not rub is important. CW and some other high-end brands have rather tight tolerances so shimming these brands is a good idea. New domes are cheap and can usually be ordered with the foam kit.

How to Repair Car Speaker - Car sub-woofer Repair after Change Good Than Before Speaker 2018

How to Repair Car Speaker - Car sub-woofer Repair after Change Good Than Before Speaker 2018

How to Repair Car Speaker - Car sub-woofer Repair after Change Good Than Before Speaker 2018 Subcribe : https://goo.gl/JnQrG7 FB : https://goo.gl/ZPpqnu G+ : https://goo.gl/KQEKSn I have always been intrigued by martial arts and after watching Iron Fist on Netflix I had the idea of making my own practice katana. I had a lot of scrap hardwood flooring from our home renovations, so I found some really beautiful pieces and got to work. Most of the sword is made from left over cumaru teak flooring that I recently used in our house. It has a really beautiful grain pattern and some elegant figuring, plus it's extremely dense and hard. I had just finished watching Alec Steele's series on making a Damascus steel katana, so I had a rough idea on how the whole thing went together. First, I drew out the rough shape of the blade based on some online dimensions. I cut out this shape on the bandsaw making sure to leave a tang on the bottom that would fit inside the hilt. I rough sanded the blade to give the sword some definition and moved on to the tsuba, or hand guard. I found another smaller piece of teak flooring for the tsuba. I used some calipers to measure the tang dimensions and transferred those lines to the blank tsuba. I drilled out this space and had to chisel and file the pocket very carefully so that the blade tang would sit snuggly into it. After I had a good fit, I cut the tsuba into an oval using a paper template. After researching how katana hilts are wrapped in cotton or silk strips, I decided to recreate that look with an inlayed contrasting wood. I had a piece of scrap oak flooring from my boys' room which would look awesome against the teak hilt. While I worked on other projects, I had my friend Josh CNC out the hilt design and the resulting diamond pattern looked just like a traditional fabric wrap. I hogged out the inside of the hilt to receive the tang and once I got a snug fit, it was time to assemble the major components. The tsuba fit onto the tang and the tang fit into the hilt. I added a kashira or pommel to the end of the hilt and it was all done. I finished the katana with some linseed oil and beeswax polish and it looks gorgeous! I am so happy to have my own sword and I feel like a true samurai! If you liked this woodworking prop, check out the playlist above for more! thank you for watching my channel
