Wagner Concert in Leipzig 1988 DDR 3 - Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg ('Wach Auf' and Finale)

Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. Conducted by Kurt Masur 1988 Fernsehen der DDR Final part of the Leipzig Wagner concert features the greatest 'Wach auf!' I have ever heard, the Rundfunkchor are simply magnificent here and provide a thrilling conclusion to what was a supremely satisfying concert in the GDR. The writer and composer Richard Wagner (1813 - 1883) was born in the city of Leipzig in Saxony. The city of his birth paid tribute to one of its most famous sons in 1988, then part of the German Democratic Republic, with an all Wagner concert from the New Gewandhaus concert hall, rebuilt by the GDR government and opened in in 1981. Kurt Masur conducts, with soprano Karan Armstrong and bass-baritone Theo Adam singing excerpts from Tristan und Isolde and Meistersinger, with equally stunning contributions from the Leipzig Radio Choir.

Sondern laßt uns angenehmere anstimmen und freudenvollere. Freude! Freude! Seid umschlungen, Millionen! Diesen Kuß der ganzen Welt! Brüder, überm Sternenzelt Muß ein lieber Vater wohnen. Ihr stürzt nieder, Millionen? Ahnest du den Schöpfer, Welt? Such' ihn überm Sternenzelt! Über Sternen muß er wohnen. Seid umschlungen, Millionen! Diesen Kuß der ganzen Welt! Brüder, überm Sternenzelt Muß ein lieber Vater wohnen. Seid umschlungen, Diesen Kuß der ganzen Welt! MITSUKO UCHIDA ~ Beethoven Piano Concerto # 3 / Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra HD audio video

MITSUKO UCHIDA ~ Beethoven Piano Concerto # 3 / Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra HD audio video

HD VIDEO AND AUDIO, Universally acclaimed pianist Mitsuko Uchida plays the Beethoven Piano Concerto # 3 in C minor with The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra with Mariss Jansons conducting. Dame Mitsuko's interpretations of the works of Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and Chopin,to name just a few has earned her numerous awards and honors . She has recorded all of Mozart's piano sonatas (a project that won the Gramophone Award), and concerti, the latter with the English Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Jeffrey Tate. Her recording of the Schoenberg Piano Concerto with Pierre Boulez won another Gramophone Award. Mitsuko Uchida plays her Beethoven with supreme lyricism and romanticism while still including a strong and invigorating style. As one can see, she has always been known for her most outgoing facial and emotional expression when performing. Though it is hard for me to believe, Ms.Uchida is approaching 62 years of age; although she does not look it. Who are the greatest Living Pianists?
