Instant Dark mode – Apply a dark theme mode so that you can read better in low light or at night with just a key combination of power button along with volume up. It strains your eyes a lot lesser and in fact, it looks really good on some apps like email, SMS, Samsung Notes, etc. The only downside is that it won’t work very well with apps that have images because it completely changes colors to their negatives and that really is horrifying when it comes to pictures on Instagram or Facebook.
Change Vibration Pattern: Never miss a notification again. Customize Galaxy Note 8 vibration pattern. You can actually change that to have more aggressive type of vibrations by changing the patterns. Under sound and vibration settings, you could go to vibration pattern and change that to anything you like.
Dual App Sound : Galaxy Note 8 essentially allows you to play something on your Bluetooth device and something else from your phone speakers. So you can use your music app like Spotify to play a playlist on your Bluetooth speakers and at the same time someone else can watch a YouTube video with headphones connected in simultaneously.
Notification Reminder: This is as simple as it sounds. You can enable a notification to appear again in case you haven’t attended to that notification in a specific time interval. So this way you surely never miss out on any unread notifications.
Block Accidental Touches: If you have a simple swipe to unlock screen, chances are that you might end up unlocking your screen unintentionally and further leading that to pocket dialing, unintended gibberish messages going out, and so on. To avoid that, you could actually just go into settings like this and enable the ‘Block accidental touches’ setting.
Dual Messenger: Finally, you don’t need an app to clone your messaging apps in case you want to use two of them on the same smartphone. Samsung allows you to do this natively by using the setting called Dual Messenger. You can just go here and as and when you have compatible apps, those would show up here that allow you to create duplicates of. And you can have 2 whatsapp accounts or 2 messenger accounts on the same phone.
Smart Lock: While security is important at all times, but when you’re home and there are no potential prying eyes, your smartphone can be programmed to be lock-free automatically. And to do that, you just go into smart lock and set it up so that your note 8 can understand that you’re in a safe zone and screen lock can by passed. There are a couple of ways to do that:
1. When your phone knows that it’s with you. So it keeps tracking its proximity to your body and keeps it unlocked for that time.
2. When it detects you are in a trusted zone either using location or using the Wi-Fi SSID.
3. When it detects that you are in your car when it connects to your car audio Bluetooth.
Samsung Secure Folder: Hide or secure your important documents, videos, images, music and apps by enabling Samsung secure folder application. You can protect your documents, apps and other kind of media files & secure them using your fingerprint, eye scanning or password/pin.
Information and Face widgets: Your lockscreen is capable of showing a lot more information so that you don’t have to always unlock your screen. Also, it looks really cool. So if you wanted to see your schedule for the day or your next alarm or have music player controls on the lock screen itself, you can pretty much do that. Just go into settings, information & lock screen and hit information and face widgets. Then click on face widgets and you can all those choices here.
And you can add a small piece of information like your name or just any text that you’d like to display by writing it out here.
Add S Pen features to air command: There are some S Pen features that really help you do a lot more with your Galaxy Note 8 that no other phone can do – at least, not with so much ease. Go ahead and add a few things like – bixby vision, magnification, glance and translate.
These are extremely handy tools that you might need any time. For e.g. if you’re looking at something that catches your attention and you want to know what that is – just use your S pen, tap on bixby vision and hover it over the object – Bixby will do its magic and tell you what it is. Similarly, for other things you can just swipe the S pen out and do what it does.
