How to Replace a Clutch in your Car or Truck (Full DIY Guide)

Learn how to replace a clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, throw out bearing (aka release bearing), pilot bearing and rear main seal in this video! My clutch was fine but my throwout bearing was bad so I decided to show how to replace all of the wear items while the transmission was off. This includes replacing the pilot bearing which the transmission input shaft goes into, the throwout bearing which engages the pressure plate via the clutch fork, the flywheel which I upgraded to an aluminum light weight flywheel, and finally the rear main seal because that is a common wear item which causes oil leaks in higher mileage motors. With the transmission out, it is worth it to replace all of these parts now instead of having to do this all over again. Most clutch kits come with the throwout bearing and pilot bearing so you just need to buy a rear main seal. Der wurde natürlich auch gefilmt. Da es am Morgen sehr kühl und feucht war, machte er einige Probleme beim starten aber dann lief er. Typisch für alte Sternmotoren ist die große Rauchentwicklung beim Start, da eine größere Ölmenge in die unteren Zylinder läuft, die dann verbrannt wird. Der Sound war wie immer ohrenbetäubend.

Two words that are often stated in the car community, but often misunderstood. This video seeks to clarify the difference between the two, without silly analogies like "horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take it with you" (which, by the way, is highly inaccurate). Torque is a force acting at a radius, while horsepower simply incorporates time into the equation. This video will discuss the differences, how each applies to internal combustion engines, how they relate, what peak torque and peak horsepower actually mean, and how to analyze torque and horsepower curves. Finally, what's more important for acceleration, a car with lots of power, or lots of torque? Let's get technical. With the context of an engine: Power = Torque x Angular Velocity. Why Do Engines Lose Horsepower As They Get Older? Sponsored by: https://www.AutoTempest.com/ Subscribe for new videos every Wednesday! - https://goo.gl/VZstk7 There are four things a gasoline engine requires to generate power and almost any engine problem will come down to something relating to one of these four factors. 1. Air 2. Fuel 3. Compression 4. Spark Dirty Air Filter A clogged air filter makes the engine work harder to pull in air, and can restrict the maximum amount of air let in. Less air means less power. Exhaust Restrictions The engine will have to work harder to push out exhaust gases, limiting power. Catalytic converters can clog up on engines with an improper air/fuel mixture or as a result of fuel additives reacting within. Mufflers can also fail internally, and alterations of the internal piping can result in an airflow restriction. Fuel Injectors Deposits can build up on the injectors over time from heat soak or poor fuel. Small restrictions can cause the O2 sensors to read a lean mixture, and so more fuel will be added to compensate. This can result in a rich mixture for the cylinders without injector problems, or even misfiring if the injector isn’t capable of injecting enough fuel. Fuel Pumps Overtime the fuel pump can wear out, but it might not necessarily fail catastrophically. While it may still be able to supply fuel at lower pressures, it may begin to struggle to provide fuel at higher pressures or for longer durations. Worn Piston Rings One of the major things that can happen over time is the piston rings will wear down, and this will allow for blow-by. Some of the high pressure air and fuel mixture combusting will pass by the pistons and travel along the cylinder walls into the crank case. This is pressure that should be pressing the piston down, so power is lost. It also means less compression as some of the air can escape as the piston travels upward on the intake stroke. Carbon Deposits On Intake Valves/Valve Seats If carbon deposits build up on the valves or valve seats, this can prevent the valves from closing properly. If an intake valve cannot fully close, it will allow air to escape during the compression stroke, effectively lowering the compression ratio. Carbon Deposits On The Piston If deposits build on the piston or cylinder walls, these deposits can create hot spots. These hot spots can result in engine knock if conditions allow for it. If the engine is capable, it will retard the ignition timing to reduce the likelihood of knock. By retarding the ignition timing, power is lost. Fouled Spark Plugs Spark plugs can build deposits with time. Inconsistent spark plug firing means you’re likely to misfire. Maintaining clean plugs ensures that the spark part of the equation doesn’t result in a loss of power. First the piston pulls in air and fuel as it moves downward, then it compresses that air and fuel as the piston moves upward. A spark plug fires, igniting the air/fuel mixture and forcing the piston downward. Finally the piston pushes out the exhaust gases on its way back up, before for the cycle repeats itself. In a V8 engine, this cycle is happening in 8 different cylinders, at different times. Instead of multiple cylinders firing at the same time, you want them to be spread out so that power delivery is smooth. For this Chevy V8, the firing or is 1, 8, 7, 2, 6, 5, 4, 3. With 8 cylinders, there is a cylinder firing for every 90 degrees of the crankshaft rotating, which means at any point in time, there are two cylinders on the power stroke. With regards to the valvetrain, the intake air comes from the top of the engine, and into the sides of the cylinder head. The exhaust flows to the sides of the engine, exiting the exhaust valves from the cylinder head. In this LS3 model, there is a single intake valve and a single exhaust valve, though it’s also common to see engines with two intake valves and two exhaust valves. The larger valve is the intake valve, and the smaller valve is the exhaust valve. The pushrod valvetrain gets its name from the metal pushrods which activate the rocker arms which open up the valves. The camshaft, located in the center of the V, has lobes on it which push the push rods up, opening the appropriate valves. For a full explanation of V8 engines, check out the video! ItalDesign is a company that dedicates itself to the design and development of new vehicles. The company has specialized in creating a wide variety of concept and production cars since the firm's founding in 1968. One of those cars was the 1993 BMW Nazca C2 which had evolved from the 1991 Nazca M12. The Alpina B10 Bi-Turbo is another BMW car that was taken and given some upgrades by the German automobile manufacturer Alpina. The car was based on the 535i and was the fastest production sedan in the world at the time it was introduced. The E25 BMW Turbo looks a bit similar in design as the DeLorean DMC-12, you know…the car from Back To The Future. BMW M8 It was one of the first BMWs to use a multi-link rear axle, one of the first cars with an electronically-controlled drive-by-wire throttle, and the very first to mate a V-12 german engine with a six-speed manual gearbox and use a Computer. You know about M3 M5 M6 and even M8, but have you ever heard of a BMW M1? This car was one of the most famous sports cars of the 1970s and helped shape the BMW M series like no other. It had a powerful inline 6-cylinder engine and became a major player in the automotive world when it debuted in 1978. BMW GINA. This car is also known as the GINA Light Visionary Model and is almost the strangest thing you have heard of. It is a fabric-skinned shape-shifting sports car. BMW Isetta. You might have seen one of these incredible funny looking cars in some old foreign film. The BMW Isetta was actually born in Italy, not Germany, and its design was simply to offer an inexpensive means of transport that had good fuel economy. Created by Iso, which subsequently became famous afterward for its elegant sports cars in the 1960s, the original Isetta had thee wheels and a single-cylinder motorcycle engine from the Iso Moto 200. BMW X5 LM. This vehicle is a bit weird in that it almost looks like the cross between an SUV and a car. But hey… who cares when there is a 700-horsepower V-12 engine under the hood…. that’s right 700 horses. In fact, the engine was only put in three other cars, the McLaren F1, the BMW V12 LMR, and this X5 machine to reaching of top speed. It is the one of fastest BMW ever created. And Here is the Weirdest BMW you’ve ever seen! OK so, a lot of these cars were concepts and there are a couple that only had a few made. There are a lot of good designers out there. But we don’t think any of them came up with this idea. A 4-year old kid came up with an idea of what he wanted his BMW to look like and boy, it’s a doozy. If you wanted to push something to the extreme, then this BMW would be it. This 4-year old kid pointed out some serious specifications for his car. It had 42 wheels, of course, and the drivetrain is powered by not one, not two, but 19 Porsche engines with each one producing 459 horses. That is one of BMW world records!
