Larghetto (1:51:36) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (27 January 1756 – 5 December 1791) was a prolific and influential composer of the classical era. Born in Salzburg, Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. Already competent on keyboard and violin, he composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty. Mozart was engaged as a musician at the Salzburg court, but grew restless and traveled in search of a better position. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was dismissed from his Salzburg position. He chose to stay in the capital, where he achieved fame but little financial security. During his final years in Vienna, he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of his early death at the age of 35. The circumstances of his early death have been much mythologized. He composed more than 600 works, many acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic, and choral music. He is among the most enduringly popular of classical composers, and his influence is profound on subsequent Western art music. Ludwig van Beethoven composed his own early works in the shadow of Mozart, and Joseph Haydn wrote: "posterity will not see such a talent again in 100 years". Johannes Brahms - Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73

The Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73, was composed by Johannes Brahms in the summer of 1877 during a visit to Pörtschach am Wörthersee, a town in the Austrian province of Carinthia. The cheery and almost pastoral mood of the symphony often invite comparisons with Beethoven's Sixth Symphony. The premiere was given on December 30, 1877 in Vienna under the direction of Hans Richter. Conductor: Mariss Jansons Orchestra: Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks

Beethoven - Piano Sonata No. 8, Op. 13

Beethoven - Piano Sonata No. 8, Op. 13 "Pathétique" II. Adagio cantabile (Ashkenazy)

Adagio cantabile, second movement from Piano Sonata No. 8, Op. 13 "Pathétique" Vladimir Ashkenazy, piano Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13, commonly known as Sonata Pathétique, was written in 1798 when the composer was 27 years old, and was published in 1799. Beethoven dedicated the work to his friend Prince Karl von Lichnowsky. Although commonly thought to be one of the few works to be named by the composer himself, it was actually named Grande sonate pathétique (to Beethoven's liking) by the publisher, who was impressed by the sonata's tragic sonorities. The Adagio movement opens with a famous cantabile melody. This theme is played three times, always in A-flat major, separated by two modulating episodes. The first episode is set in F minor (parallel to A-flat major), further modulating to E-flat major before returning to the main theme. The second episode begins in A-flat minor and modulates to E major. With the final return of the main theme, the accompaniment becomes richer and takes on the triplet rhythm of the second episode. Quoted from Charles Burkhart's "Anthology for Musical Analysis" Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 - 1827)

Beethoven "Pastoral" Symphony - 5th Movement

Conducted by Carlo Maria Giulini and performed by the New Philharmonia Orchestra. This is one of my favorite movements from Beethoven, illustrated by Scot Miller's photographs of Walden pond. This is gratefully dedicated to Beethoven and Thoreau, who wrote about nature as passionately as Beethoven depicted it in music.

Part 2 (& CAdenza) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOt6EAAeTNE First time Enzo played with orchestra and he seemed happy about the experience. The Manila Symphony Orchestra is "young" with a good number of students and new graduates. The conductor, Jeffrey Solares was so considerate, guiding Enzo in many aspects as he knew Enzo was a bit anxious. Although they had a total of 2 sessions, 2 hours each, Enzo and the MSO seemed to have blended well. We will try to post the REST of the concerto within the next few days. Thank you for listening, watching and rating.

Ludwig Van Beethoven - Symphony No. 6, Op.68 - 4th & 5th Movement

Ludwig Van Beethoven - Symphony No. 6, Op.68 - 4th & 5th Movement

''Gewitter, Sturm - Hirtengesang. Frohe und dankbare Gefühle nach dem Sturm'' Symphony No. 6 in F major, op. 68 ,"The Pastoral" was written almost simultaneously with The 5th Symphony, but differs from it in theme. If Symphony No.5 deals with the struggle and the joy of victory, "The Pastoral" represents the expression of the love the composer holds for nature. In a letter to Therese Malfatti in the summer of 1808, Beethoven said " How happy I am to be able to walk among the shrubs, the trees, the woods, the grass and the rocks! For the woods, the trees and the rocks give man the resonance he needs." Beethoven's great love of nature, the delight in strolling through the woods of Heilllingenstadt, the fact that he always found his equilibrium in the heart of nature, all these led to the creation of his sixth symphony. This programmatic endeavor is clearly expressed through the suggestive title of the symphony, as well as through the titles of each segment of it, through this initiating the later direction of his programmatic symphonies and even of his symphonic poems. When he found refuge in the midst of nature, he jotted down themes inspired by the trill of birds, the trickling of creeks or the rustle of leaves. In a notebook from 1803 was found an outline of a river's trickling with the additional note: " The greater the river, the more grave the tone." Beethoven rose much higher than his predecessors who tried to capture the gist of nature, because he places man with his feelings and sensitivity in the heart of nature. And this is confirmed by the very title he places on the cover of the first edition (Breitkoph & Hartel) and that is: "Pastoral-Sinfonie oder Erinnerung an das Landleben. (Mehr Ausdruck der Emphindung als Mahlerey.)" -- "Pastoral Symphony or Recollection of the Life in the Countryside"

Quick Guide: Beethoven Symphony No. 2

Quick Guide: Beethoven Symphony No. 2

A Quick Guide to Beethoven's Symphony No. 2, Op. 36 in D major. My Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/insidethescore This is part of the Quick Guide Series, which provides Quick Introductions to some of the Major works in Classical Music. While many people use classical music for studying, relaxing and relaxation, or sleeping, far fewer people actually enjoy listening actively. Due to the difficult state of music education, most people don't know how to follow a symphony, or how the best composers wrote and structured their works. While it has been proven that classical music can be beneficial to the mental development of babies and kids, I believe it has life enhancing qualities for all ages, and as an art form deserves to be shared, whether through outreach, or tutorials and lessons like these. Classical music, at its best, can be richly emotional, and I believe that its emotion can be unlocked by anyone willing to follow these guides through. The principles that I will go through apply to all music, whether live in concert or on CD or Spotify, and whether you're listening to Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Handel, Brahms, Chopin, Wagner, Verdi, or Puccini, and whether listening to Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Orchestral, Choral, or Chamber music. Many programs suggest that learning an instrument such as the piano, violin, guitar, cello, oboe, clarinet, or singing in a choir, is crucial for music appreciation. Well I think these skills, as well as learning to read sheet music and training your ear, can be extremely useful, I believe that almost anyone can learn to enjoy classical music with minimal training and music theory. Therefore, this short series will be very light on music theory, and will only use it when necessary to highlight certain forms such as sonata, rondo, and other typical forms. While I originally got into classical music via movie scores and film composers such as Howard Shore, John Williams, and Hans Zimmer, I discovered this way of listening which has completely changed the way I approach and enjoy classical music. I hope through these videos I can share that with you. Please Subscribe if you want to see more like this, as well as video essays and analysis on movie music and classical music!
