What if Australians started eating carp? The fish is extensively farmed in Europe, Asia and the Middle East for food, and is one of the most eaten fish internationally. This cookbook is freely available and you can download it with the compliments of all of us keen to get people eating carp. Download the cookbook here: http://riversofcarbon.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/carp-recipe-ebook-A5.pdf To help you even more, we have produced this video with our resident carp chef, Luke Pearce from DPI Fisheries. Please share your carp recipes with us, maybe we can get a second volume of carp recipes out into the community for all to enjoy!

10 Things Americans Do That Confuse The Rest Of The World!

10 Things Americans Do That Confuse The Rest Of The World!

Top things Americans do that confuse everyone else! These are the confusing and weird customs of americans and things americans do that confuse the rest of the world! #5. “Hollywood Smile”-- Another place that foreigners think Americans are wasting water is at the Dentist’s office. While dental hygiene in other countries may not be as bad as it is stereotyped to be, like in England, they aren’t quite as obsessed with attaining or maintaining the perfect smile in the way that Americans have. Where Americans have been known to spend thousands of dollars on braces and whitening procedures in order to get a pearly white Hollywood grill many foreigners are content with crooked and discolored teeth as long as they aren’t falling out or making them look like Nosferatu. Most foreigners from first world nations care about their teeth, they just haven’t become indoctrinated with the intense beauty standards American society has made a part of its culture in regards to dental perfection. In many countries, having a brighter than normal smile that is unnaturally straight is viewed as superficial to the point of being unattractive or off-putting. #4. “Dining Out”-- Tipping your server and taking home leftover food. Two habits that are so ingrained in the American dining experience that they can be hard to kick, but rest assured if you try doing these outside of the US you are sure to draw confused looks and reveal your Stars and Stripes. In most Asian and European countries a service charge is either already included in your bill or it is not customary to leave a tip. In many places if you do try to tip you can offend your waiter, this is because a tip can be seen as a person having pity on their server or offering some sort of charity. In some countries giving good service is expected whereas in the United States the food industry has become a sort of meritocracy. Foreigners see this as absurd, why should a server be rewarded for something they should be doing in the first place? However, In places where tipping is insulting waitstaff aren’t ridiculously underpaid like they are in the U.S. The other habit that can draw the scoffs of onlookers at a restaurant outside the United States is asking for a ‘doggy bag’ or ‘to-go box’. In many countries, especially European ones the idea of saving a hot meal at a restaurant in order to reheat it and eat it at home is a disgusting prospect. Many dining cultures believe that the food is meant to be eaten exactly how it is prepared by the chef or cook at that moment, not to be consumed after the various sauces and meat juices congeal or have their perfect grilling or baking sullied by your microwave. A lot of the reason that Americans have developed this custom of bringing scraps home with them is due to portion sizes being generally much larger in the States than elsewhere. This may be a result of capitalist consumers becoming obsessed with getting their money’s worth causing restaurants to have slowly battled to stuff people’s gullets.

The Ultimate JERUSALEM FOOD TOUR + Attractions - Palestinian Food and Israeli Food in Old Jerusalem!

The Ultimate JERUSALEM FOOD TOUR + Attractions - Palestinian Food and Israeli Food in Old Jerusalem!

Join us on the ultimate Jerusalem food tour! Follow David on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the.hungry.tourist/ Also, thanks to Rafram: http://rafram.com/ Subscribe for more videos► http://bit.ly/MarkWiensSubscribe T-shirts for sale here► https://migrationology.com/store/ There are few cities in the world that can compare to Jerusalem in terms of ancient history and religious significance. It’s one of the most fascinating cities in the world, and it’s a city that I’ve wanted to visit my entire life. Finally, along with my friend David (https://www.instagram.com/the.hungry.tourist/) and Rafram, we explored Jerusalem to discover the food treasures the city has to offer - and let me tell you, you’ll find some incredibly delicious food in Jerusalem! We started off the Jerusalem food tour by first walking around East Jerusalem and starting with the best plate of hummus I’ve ever had. We then toured around Old Jerusalem, and enjoyed some incredible Palestinian food kebabs cooked by an incredible man who cooked with serious love and passion. Another highlight in Jerusalem was the mutabak, a thin pastry stuffed with cheese and baked. After eating our way through Old Jerusalem, we then headed into West Jerusalem and went to lunch at an Israeli Jewish restaurant serving a mix of amazing dishes. The food was home-cooked in style, and absolutely sensation. A few more snacks and sightseeing throughout the afternoon, and that brought us all the way to dinner where David had made reservations to eat at one of the hottest restaurants in Jerusalem, Machneyuda Restaurant. It was quite an experience, and an amazing meal and lively atmosphere to wrap up this ultimate Jerusalem food tour. Here’s all the food and places included in this Palestinian food and Israeli food tour of Jerusalem: Hummus Acramawi Price - 20 ILS ($5.57) per plate Almond juice - 3.90 ILS ($1.09) Al-shuala Grill Restaurant Shawarma - 26 ILS ($7.26) Al Baghdadi Kabab Palestinian kebabs Total price - 100 ILS ($27.89) Zalatimo Sweets Mutabak Price - 30 ILS ($8.37) each Peaches - 10 for 1 kg Plums - 10 for 1 kg Fruit - 10 ILS ($2.76) per kg. Mahane Yehuda Market Azura Restaurant Total price - 400 ILS ($111.55) Western Wall (Wailing Wall) Western Wall Tunnel Price - 35 ILS ($9.76) per person Dome of the Rock Mount of Olives Machneyuda Restaurant Total price - 700 ILS ($195.21) It was a lot of food in a single day, but it was one of the greatest food and learning days that I’ve ever had in my life. The generosity of the people we connected with, paired with the food, was truly a memorable experience in Jerusalem. Thank you again to David (https://www.instagram.com/the.hungry.tourist/) and Rafram for showing me some of the best food in Jerusalem! - MUSIC in This Video: Souls of Time, Arabian Feast - https://goo.gl/HwVjdo CAMERA GEAR used to make this video (these are affiliate links): GH5: http://amzn.to/2sV0XQO Main lens: http://amzn.to/2szLZNf 2nd lens: http://amzn.to/2mcEGau Microphone: http://amzn.to/2rBKD3z Tripod: http://amzn.to/2rBFkkI I would love to connect with you! 15 Cooking Tricks Chefs Reveal Only at Culinary Schools

15 Cooking Tricks Chefs Reveal Only at Culinary Schools

Bright Side found out 15 simple but effective cooking tips every foodie should know. These secrets will help you to make your dishes taste just as great as Gordon Ramsay's (or even better!). How do restaurant chefs manage to cook delicious culinary masterpieces so fast? Professional chefs usually keep all their cooking tricks a secret and share them only with their students. TIMESTAMPS The perfect steak 0:47 The juiciest meat 1:31 Flavoring spices 2:24 Light and airy dough 3:05 Fish with a delicate crust 3:39 Cooking steak without oil 4:13 Creamy mashed potatoes 4:41 Excellent cream soup 5:29 The best pancakes 6:19 Sugar is not for sweetness 6:51 The most difficult one: perfectly fried eggs 7:15 Clear broth 8:10 Crispy bread crust 9:06 Cook onions correctly 9:46 Don't be afraid of garlic 10:32 SUMMARY - Don't fry a piece of meat that you've just taken out of the fridge. Leave it for an hour or 2 before cooking to let it come up to room temperature. Now you'll fry the meat evenly and get a great meal, regardless of how you like your steak done. - It takes time to fry chicken or pork properly, and you can dry them out very easily. To avoid this, many European chefs use a simple trick: they put the meat in a brine. It's very easy to make a good brine: take 3 cups of water, and add ¼ cup of salt and ¼ cup of sugar. Pour the brine into your meat so that the liquid covers it, and put the bowl in a fridge. - To extract natural flavors and enhance the taste of the black pepper or cumin in your dish, toss them in a pan over medium heat, toasting them until they're fragrant. After that, you can use a mortar and pestle to grind your spices. - If you want to make it perfect, here is a simple rule. Take the butter and eggs out of the fridge the night before to let them come up to room temperature. - If you want to fry fish on a grill, spread some mayonnaise on it to get a tasty, delicate crust. Take a pastry brush, dip the tip in the sauce, and lightly apply mayo to the fish. Add some salt, and then grill it. - Alain Ducasse, one of the most famous chefs in the world, revealed his secret for cooking a great steak. The steak is placed on its edge because it renders the fat. Now you're able to cook the steak in beef fat, plus it creates a delicious crust on the edges. - Before turning boiled potatoes into the mashed ones, you need to dry them properly. Just place them in a clean heated frying pan, and keep them there until the remains of water dry out. Don't let the heat fry them. When the potatoes are dry, you'll get the best creamy mashed potatoes. - Right before you start cooking it, fry all the vegetables separately with olive oil. Then add some water or broth. Frying will caramelize the sugar in the vegetables and enhance their flavor. The dish will be exquisite and tasty. - Regardless of the recipe you follow, always add two tablespoons of sour cream to the mix. This trick suits all kinds of pancakes well, and they turn out to be very tasty, fluffy, and free of cracks. - Sugar can be as good a seasoning as salt. Add a bit of sugar to a dish with pickled or fresh tomatoes or a tomato paste. The sugar reduces their natural sourness and makes any meal taste better. - The 3 components of perfectly fried eggs are a thick-walled frying pan, butter, and minimum heat. Heat up the frying pan, and add 1/2 tablespoon of butter. It has to melt slowly, not reach a sizzle. Break the eggs, and cook for 4-5 minutes. Add salt, and enjoy perfectly fried eggs. - A clear broth is the main component in many soups, sauces, and other dishes. To make a crystal clear broth, you need to cook chicken on a low heat without a cover for at least 3 hours. - If you bake at home, you might have faced difficulties with your crust: it's either too pale or too thick. You can solve this problem quite easily by putting a bowl of water into your oven when you bake. Instead of such a bowl, you can use a tray full of ice cubes. -Use a medium heat for frying, and add both cooking oil and butter to the heated frying pan. Cut the onions, and fry them with some salt. - If you still love to eat it but don't want to frighten away your date or wreck the negotiations, don't add garlic to the dish. Instead, you can apply some garlic juice to the plate. Thus you'll avoid the unpleasant smell and enjoy your favorite flavor. Homemade Oven-Cooked Cebu Lechon Belly (w/ Eng Subtitle) | HungreeCatt Cooks

My husband and I decided to cook our own Cebu Lechon Belly for New year 2017. It is a Filipino-style Porchetta, with stuffing of garlic, onion and lemongrass. We tried another version of this lechon using a slab: https://youtu.be/jIJ0HlyL-Jk NOTES: we preheated the oven at high setting. our oven only has High and Low setting and heat source is only on the bottom. we cooked for 1.5 hrs in Low, 1-1.5 hrs in medium and then set it to High on the last hour to melt the fats and crisp the skin. We also refilled the baking trays on the bottom as needed. Thanks!
